Kidocracy

Kidocracy is a charity dedicated to empowering children to see themselves as leaders and positive role models within their communities. Its central aim is to promote children’s understanding of democracy and to inspire their future engagement in the democratic process. The charity believes that every child, regardless of confidence level or background, should recognise the value of their voice and their ability to make a difference.

Through its interactive workshop, Kidocracy brings these ideas to life using games and role-play led by a character called Brehon. The sessions are designed for Key Stage 2 pupils and provide a fun, immersive way to explore leadership, teamwork, and collective decision-making. Children learn how democracy works by debating issues, managing a budget, and using their votes to overcome a fictional Tyrant. These activities not only teach key democratic principles but also build confidence, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ultimately, Kidocracy’s work helps young people understand that good leadership is about listening, fairness, and collaboration. By giving children a practical experience of democracy in action, the charity nurtures informed, responsible, and active citizens who will positively contribute to their schools and wider communities.
