Senedd Elections 2026 - Preparing Learners for a Hustings
Host a Hustings Cymru helps teachers and youth practitioners to organise and deliver their own youth hustings events for the 2026 Senedd elections. It is funded by the Welsh Government.
This scheme of work consists of three lessons / workshops for teachers and practitioners to use to help prepare young people to take part in a hustings:
- Host a Hustings Cymru - Explore - fun, interactive activities designed to engage learners with no prior knowledge or interest in politics to consider the issues and policies that are important to them.
- Host a Hustings Cymru - Understanding the Senedd - explains what the Senedd is, the powers it has and how its members are elected.
- Host a Hustings Cymru - Preparing for Your Hustings - supports learners to research the parties and candidates standing for election, as well as how to prepare meaningful and relevant questions to ask the candidates in the hustings.

Explore - Senedd Election
Host a Hustings Cymru helps teachers and youth practitioners to organise and deliver their own youth hustings events for the 2026 Senedd elections.
This is the first of three lessons / workshops to help prepare young people to take part in a hustings. 'Host a Hustings Cymru - Explore' consists of fun, interactive activities designed to engage learners with no prior knowledge or interest in politics to consider the issues and policies that are important to them.
The resources consist of a slide deck, worksheets and wall signs to use in the activities.
Understanding the Senedd

This is the second of three lessons / workshops to help prepare young people to take part in a hustings. 'Host a Hustings Cymru - Understanding the Senedd' explains what the Senedd is, the powers it has and how its members are elected.

The resource consists of a slide deck, and a worksheet to support learners when researching political parties and candidates.
