Young Citizens

Young Citizens is a national education charity empowering children and young people with the skills, knowledge and confidence to be active in their communities and wider democratic society.

Since 1989 we have supported tens of thousands of UK state schools and colleges with immersive learning programmes and classroom resources, enabling teachers to deliver the essential civic skills pupils need to shape the world around them.

Through programmes such as the Mock Trial Competitions, Citizenship Workshops and the Make a Difference Challenge, as well as our trusted library of lesson and assembly plans, we help educators to deliver inspiring active citizenship - both as part of the statutory curriculum and beyond.

We specialise in connecting young learners to businesses, democratic institutions and the local community to bring complex topics such as politics, law, economics and media to life. As well as learning about key issues such as human rights, media literacy and democracy, we want pupils to build skills such as critical thinking, oracy, resilience and respect.

Our aim is to empower all children and young people to act locally whilst thinking nationally and globally.
